What does [:-1] mean/do in python? - Stack Overflow
Sometimes -1 is used to express the end of an array of things. My guess is this means to read from beginning to the end of the line (but just a guess, hence not an official answer). I'm not sure it's a dup, because of that "in the context of…" part—which is the part that you and, especially, Pavel Anossov answered.

1] in Python with Examples - Guru99
Whenever a programmer defines [::-1], it suggests that the program has to traverse from start to end in a given list. You can do indexing in python, which helps to slice and dice an iterable sequence such as a list or string. What is [::-1] in Python? What is the type of 1 in Python? How to perform Indexing in Python?

Python Slicing – How to Slice an Array and What Does [::-1] Mean?
Here's an example array in Python: We created an array of integer values from 1 to 5 here. We also accessed the second value by using square brackets and its index in the order, which is 1. Let's say you want to slice a portion of this array and assign the slice to another variable. You can do it using colons and square brackets.

Python Operators - W3Schools
Operators are used to perform operations on variables and values. In the example below, we use the + operator to add together two values: Python divides the operators in the following groups: Arithmetic operators are used with numeric values to perform common mathematical operations: Assignment operators are used to assign values to variables:

What does the percentage sign mean in Python [duplicate]
What does if n % x actually say? The % does two things, depending on its arguments. In this case, it acts as the modulo operator, meaning when its arguments are numbers, it divides the first by the second and returns the remainder. 34 % 10 == 4 since 34 divided by 10 is three, with a remainder of four.

The += Operator In Python - A Complete Guide - AskPython
In this lesson, we will look at the += operator in Python and see how it works with several simple examples. The operator ‘+=’ is a shorthand for the addition assignment operator. It adds two values and assigns the sum to a variable (left operand). Let’s look at three instances to have a better idea of how this operator works. 1.

What Does 'do' Do in Python - Online Tutorials Library
Slicing in Python gets a sub-string from a string. The slicing range is set as parameters i.e. start, stop and step. For slicing, the 1st index is 0. For negative indexing, to display the 1st element to last element in steps of 1 in reverse order, we use the [::-1]. The [::-1] reverses the order. In a similar way, we can slice strings like this.

Modulo operator (%) in Python - GeeksforGeeks
Modulo operator (%) in Python gives the remainder when one number is divided by another. Python allows both integers and floats as operands, unlike some other languages. It follows the Euclidean division rule, meaning the remainder always has the same sign as the divisor.

python - What is the difference between i = i + 1 and i += 1 in a 'for ...
But to explicitly write into the same memory you could use i[:] = i+1 (but it's generally better to use += or the out -argument of several ufuncs).

Meaning of list[-1] in Python - Stack Overflow
[-1] means the last element in a sequence, which in this is case is the list of tuples like (element, count), order by count descending so the last element is the least common element in the original collection. Possible duplicate: stackoverflow.com/questions/509211/…
