BetaFigures is more a sarcastic way of saying "Of course they would do that." It is based off of what you know or think of the person, company etc in question, and you hear something else bad about them that fits with that kind of persona. For example if a company is known or thought to be corrupt and you then find out they also pollute youd say, "Figures." As in figures they would do that because theyre corrupt, or bad people.
