What does [:-1] mean/do in python? - Stack Overflow
Sometimes -1 is used to express the end of an array of things. My guess is this means to read from beginning to the end of the line (but just a guess, hence not an official answer). I'm not sure it's a dup, because of that "in the context of…" part—which is the part that you and, especially, Pavel Anossov answered.

There are two ways to represent 1 in python as described below: –. It can be represented in a simple square bracket with no colon and another method with double colon syntax. An iterable sequence such as a list or string can be parsed to item level using [] brackets. Within the [] brackets, one has to provide different indexes.

Python Operators - W3Schools
Operators are used to perform operations on variables and values. In the example below, we use the + operator to add together two values: Python divides the operators in the following groups: Arithmetic operators are used with numeric values to perform common mathematical operations: Assignment operators are used to assign values to variables:

Negative Indexing in Python List – How to Use “-1” Parameter
Indexing is used to directly access the elements of choice within a list for further use. The default index starts from 0 and goes on till n-1. Here n denotes the total number of elements in the respective data structure. Below are the types of Indexing: Positive Indexing: Starts from 0 and increases.

What Does 'do' Do in Python - Online Tutorials Library
For slicing, the 1st index is 0. For negative indexing, to display the 1st element to last element in steps of 1 in reverse order, we use the [::-1]. The [::-1] reverses the order. In a similar way, we can slice strings like this. Remember, negative number for step means "in reverse order". Let us now see examples ?

Modulo operator (%) in Python - GeeksforGeeks
Modulo operator (%) in Python gives the remainder when one number is divided by another. Python allows both integers and floats as operands, unlike some other languages. It follows the Euclidean division rule, meaning the remainder always has the same sign as the divisor.

BitwiseOperators - Python Wiki
Each bit of the output is 0 if the corresponding bit of x AND of y is 0, otherwise it's 1. Returns the complement of x - the number you get by switching each 1 for a 0 and each 0 for a 1. This is the same as -x - 1. Does a "bitwise exclusive or".

Operators and Expressions in Python
In Python, an operator may be a symbol, a combination of symbols, or a keyword, depending on the type of operator that you’re dealing with. For example, you’ve already seen the subtraction operator, which is represented with a single minus sign (-). The equality operator is a double equal sign (==). So, it’s a combination of symbols:

3. An Informal Introduction to Python
Expression syntax is straightforward: the operators +, -, * and / can be used to perform arithmetic; parentheses (()) can be used for grouping. For example: The integer numbers (e.g. 2, 4, 20) have type int, the ones with a fractional part (e.g. 5.0, 1.6) have type float. We will see more about numeric types later in the tutorial.
