Up- or Downregulation of Melanin Synthesis Using Amino Acids, Peptides ...
The major targets of amino acids, peptides, and their analogs for the control of skin pigmentation. Microphthalmia-associated transcription factor (MITF) plays a primary role in inducing gene expression of melanogenic enzymes, such as tyrosinase (TYR), tyrosinase-related protein 1 (TYRP1), and dopachrome tautomerase (DCT) in response to various internal and external stimuli.

Lightening Skin Through a Melanogenesis-interrupting Peptide
Cutaneous pigmentation is determined by melanogenesis, the transfer of melanosomes to keratinocytes, and the distribution of melanin to skin, among other processes. Interrupting these would limit skin pigmentation to achieve a better skin lightening effect. Here, the authors review the biological mechanisms of melanin production, then test a peptide designed to act on them for a lightening effect.

Skin pigmentation | Coegin Pharma
NPP-4 is our skin pigmentation project. We plan to launch a self-tanning product based on NPP-4 in 2026, in collaboration with one or more partners. NPP-4 works by stimulating the transport of melanin to the outermost layer of the skin, mimicking the natural process that occurs during sun exposure or tanning beds, but without the risks associated with UV radiation.

Peptide Design for Enhanced Anti-Melanogenesis: Optimizing Molecular ...
Additionally, peptides have been found to influence melanosome biogenesis, induce autophagy, and suppress melanin synthesis, resulting in decreased pigmentation. 56 Furthermore, peptides have been explored for their antioxidant properties and their capability to neutralize free radicals, which can further inhibit melanin biosynthesis. 55 On the ...

Peptide Design for Enhanced Anti-Melanogenesis: Optimizing ... - PubMed
Melanogenesis is a biochemical process that regulates skin pigmentation, which is crucial role in protecting against ultraviolet radiation. It is also associated with hyperpigmentation conditions such as melasma and age spots, which negatively impact aesthetics and self-confidence. Tyrosinase (TYR), …

Antimelanogenic peptides | British Journal of Dermatology - Oxford Academic
Peptides are increasingly being used in skincare products as active ingredients and antimelanogenic (anti melanin) peptides are potentially useful for the treatment of hyperpigmentation. Alpha‐melanocyte stimulating hormone (alpha‐MSH) is a peptide that, through a complex sequence of events, is involved in the synthesis ‐ or production ‐ of melanin.

Second, peptides reduce the activity of these enzymes, lowering their capacity to catalyze the transformation of L-tyrosine substrate into melanin. In efforts to reduce melanin production at the gene transcription level, the MITF transcription factor has become the primary target of anti-hyperpigmentation peptides.

Effect of Reducing Pigmentation by Collagen Peptide Intake: A ...
Introduction We examined the effect of 5.0 g/day of collagen peptide (CP) or collagen peptide fermented with Aspergillus sojae (FCP) on skin pigmentation in healthy participants. Methods In this randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study, 44 men and women aged 25–63 years were placed into three groups by stratified random allocation and treated with CP, FCP, or placebo (PL) at 5.0 g ...
