Farms dont generate grains. I have a problem, my farms doesnt yield any grain after the harvest. I should have it stored from 2 fields that are >1.0 size but literally none appeared after few years. Keep people assigned to it. They will turn wheat to grain in the farm. But only after harvesting everything and bringing it inside.
